Another of those `what am I doing?` projects!

This seems to be a bit of a theme with me. I know it can be done, I have the vision, I have the supplies but then I have to execute the project and I get stuck.

This homeowner needed a mudroom/ garage entryway/ dumping spot but all she had was a large but pretty useless generic closet.

With 3 small kids you know for sure they aren`t hanging coats on a hanger or reaching up to a high shelf to grab their mittens!

The original generic closet with zero storage solutions.

This was the space. It sits just inside the door from the garage. A highly trafficked path from car to house.

My first thought was to get rid of the hanging bar altogether, add in some shelves and a bench and we are good.

So this is where I got a little stuck. The ordering, purchasing, building and placing were done and are a great solution but it just looked like a closet with some flat pack furniture added ( which it was) which wasnt the overall look I wanted.

Fast forward a few weeks ( thankful for a patient client) to finally making the trek to Home Depot for supplies, collecting tools and handyman help and finding a day that worked for everyone involved and we finally put the finishing touches in.

This included:

Beadboard on the wall, part function, part aesthetic

Hooks! It's starting to come together now! (getting excited!)

A few touch ups, thankfully no need to repaint the entire thing although we absolutely would and could

And finally, my vision had come to life.

Is it perfect? No

Is it functional? Yes

Am I going to take on more of these challenges that are totally outside my wheelhouse? Probably!

At the end of the day the client was super happy with the outcome, I learnt some new skills and overcame some challenges and I would like to give my partner in crime and handyman Bill a shout out for helping, teaching and fulfilling this mission with me.
